Index Ventures Raises $2 Billion, Plans Further Investments in Israel
Global venture capital firm Index Ventures has raised $2 billion in new capital to invest in companies at various stages, from seed to growth. The new funding brings the firm’s total available capital to $3.5 billion, as it plans to continue expanding its activity in Israel.
The new capital includes $400 million for a seed fund and $900 million for a venture fund. Index has also added $700 million to the growth fund it raised in 2024, increasing its size from $1.5 billion to $2.2 billion. The firm said it is seeking companies in sectors where artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities, including cybersecurity, infrastructure, fintech, healthcare, productivity and consumer technology.
Israel plays a central role in Index’s investment strategy. The firm has been investing in Israeli companies for approximately two decades, and its portfolio includes several prominent technology companies founded in Israel, including Wiz, Gong, Fireblocks, Capitolis and Empathy.
One of its most significant successes was its early investment in Wiz. The Israeli cloud security company was acquired by Google for $32 billion in a transaction completed earlier this year. Index, one of the company’s earliest institutional investors, reportedly held a stake of approximately 12%. Its holding was valued at around $3.8 billion at the time of the sale, while other estimates placed the firm’s total return at approximately $4.3 billion.
Index has expanded its activity in Israel in recent years, particularly in AI, cybersecurity and infrastructure. According to figures released by the firm, it made 16 investments in Israeli companies over a three-year period, totaling approximately $300 million.
Its recent investments include cybersecurity company Glow, identity security company NewCore, robotics company Enigma AI, AI-powered customer service platform Wonderful and cloud optimization company PointFive. Index has also invested in Israeli cybersecurity companies Frame Security, Linx Security, Astelia and Venice.
Index Ventures, which is marking its 30th anniversary this year, operates from San Francisco, New York and London. The firm said the new capital would enable it to support entrepreneurs from their first investment through an IPO and beyond, across a region it describes as stretching “from Tel Aviv to San Francisco.”
