Motorola Solutions Acquires Israel’s D-Fend Solutions in $1.5 Billion Deal
Motorola Solutions has announced the acquisition of D-Fend Solutions, an Israeli company specializing in advanced counter-drone technologies. The transaction, valued at approximately $1.5 billion, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Founded in 2017 by Zohar Halachmi and Rami Tamir, D-Fend developed the EnforceAir system, an RF-cyber-based solution that detects, identifies, and takes control of unauthorized drones, enabling their safe and controlled landing. Unlike traditional counter-UAS solutions that rely on signal jamming or physical interception, EnforceAir neutralizes threats without disrupting surrounding communications or causing collateral damage.
The company’s systems are deployed by defense organizations, law enforcement agencies, airports, and critical infrastructure operators worldwide. Demand for such solutions has grown rapidly in recent years as drones have become increasingly prevalent in conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and other regions, while also posing growing security risks to civilian and strategic facilities.

The acquisition aligns with Motorola Solutions’ strategy of expanding its public safety and security portfolio. Known globally for its mission-critical communications technologies, Motorola Solutions has significantly broadened its activities in recent years to include video security, sensors, command-and-control systems, and advanced security solutions.
One of the most notable aspects of the transaction is the valuation. Just a month ago, reports indicated that D-Fend had engaged Goldman Sachs to explore strategic options at an estimated valuation of around $1 billion. The final deal value of approximately $1.5 billion represents a premium of roughly 50 percent over those earlier estimates, underscoring the rapidly growing demand for counter-drone technologies and D-Fend’s position as one of the leading companies in the sector.
For Israel’s defense-tech industry, the transaction represents another major success story and highlights the continued global appetite for Israeli innovation in defense, cybersecurity, and dual-use technologies despite ongoing economic and geopolitical challenges.
The acquisition is also a reflection of the broader transformation taking place in the security market. As governments, military organizations, airports, and critical infrastructure operators seek effective ways to address the growing drone threat, counter-UAS technologies are increasingly becoming a strategic priority, driving strong investment activity and industry consolidation worldwide.
